JERRY I. GAINER, P.E., R.P.L.S., C.F.M. – PRESIDENT
Mr. Gainer has over 30 years of engineering experience, with 20 years in the Baytown-Houston region and seven years with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). In January of 2009, after 15 years of employment and four years as Vice President/Principal for Hutchison & Associates, Mr. Gainer acquired Busch, Hutchison & Associates, Inc. (DBA Hutchison & Associates) and became president.
Mr. Gainer’s diverse experience includes hydrologic/hydraulic studies, private and public infrastructure projects, feasibility studies, public presentations, management of preparing construction plans and specifications, bidding and contractual processes and construction management. Drawing on his years of engineering experience, Mr. Gainer utilizes all the main civil engineering disciplines in his projects, such as grading, drainage, erosion control, and water quality reports/studies. His background enables him to thoroughly understand projects, and he combines this with his engineering expertise to provide the best possible solution on a case-by-case basis.
Mr. Gainer received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is professionally affiliated with the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and American Society of Civil Engineers and is licensed in the State of Texas.
Dana H. Gainer – Vice President
Upon graduation from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Management Information
Systems, Mrs. Gainer accepted a systems programmer position with Tenneco Oil Exploration Production in Houston, Texas. Shortly thereafter, her family relocated to the Austin area where
she worked for the Lower Colorado River Authority continuing her career as a systems analyst.
In 1990, following a promotion of Jerry Gainer to District Area Engineer with the Texas
Department of Public Transportation, the family moved back to the College Station area where
Dana accepted a position with Texas A&M University supporting the Student Information
Management System. She was then recruited by Agency Management Systems (AMS) to
provide systems analysis and support of the acquisition of three major competitors.
In November of 1992, Dana and Jerry were blessed with the birth of identical triplet daughters.
In March of 1993, Mrs. Gainer returned to AMS in a part-time capacity until the family relocated
to Baytown, Texas in January 1994 when Jerry accepted an engineering position with BHA.
During the years between 1994 and 2011 while being a stay-at-home mom, Dana was
volunteering with her church, the Baytown Mothers of Multiples, the local YMCA and substitute
teaching in Goose Creek Consolidate Independent School District and at Lee College. In 2011
when the triplets left home to attend Texas A&M University, Mrs. Gainer began working full-
time as the Vice President of BHA. Dana and Jerry are blessed with three beautiful
grandchildren, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
As Vice President, Dana is responsible for corporate tasks including financial reporting,
managing company performance and overseeing internal operations. Dana manages all personnel
including HR tasks and maintains safety compliance programs (Avetta and ISNetworld). She
handles annual insurance renewals, tax filings, drug screening program (DISA),
marketing/advertising, and manages front office. Dana also supervises her administrative staff
and the daily front desk duties including payroll, AR/AP, time reporting, invoicing, client
relations, and provides support to engineering and surveying departments as needed.
JERRY M. CROUCH, P.E. - PROJECT/ CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Mr. Crouch came on board with Hutchison & Associates in 2006. He brings diversified knowledge and years of experience in field construction to our team. Mr. Crouch owned his own construction company for a period of 10 years. This work included the construction and rehabilitation of Wastewater Plants, Water Plants and general water and sewer contracts. He has helped manage several large construction projects in excess of 50 million dollars. The most recent is the TMK – Ipsco Heat Treat Expansion in Baytown, Texas (54 million dollars).
Jerry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in December of 1986 and his Texas Professional Engineers License in August of 1992. Jerry’s background in these various fields and his proven track record of constructability and value engineering solutions make him a great asset to Hutchison & Associates.
ALETA JULIENE HARROD, R.P.L.S. - SURVEY MANAGER
Employed with Hutchison & Associates since 1999, Mrs. Harrod possesses extensive survey experience including residential, commercial, and industrial projects; ALTA/ASCM Land Title Surveys; boundary surveys; topography; vertical and horizontal control; mapping; and construction staking. Juliene is responsible for the overall operation of the survey department. Her wide range of experience makes her the excellent choice for any type of survey project presented to her. With experience in training field personnel, management of project budgets, as well as the production of all types of surveys, preparation of metes and bounds descriptions, easements and plats, Juliene has been involved in every aspect of the surveying profession.
Juliene received her degree in Surveying and Mapping from International Correspondence Schools and became a Registered Professional Land Surveyor for the State of Texas on February 12, 1986.
ALEX ROMO - PROJECT SURVEYOR SUPERVISOR
Mr. Romo has been employed by Hutchison & Associates for 22 years. Mr. Romo worked his way up from a rodman in the field crew to the Senior Draftsman in the Survey Department. While employed with Hutchison & Associates, he obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in “Engineering Design Graphics.”
He is responsible for the majority of the CAD drawings produced by the survey department, varying from lot survey maps to extensive topographic drawings to large boundary tracts and subdivisions. He has a thorough working knowledge of the Trimble GPS equipment and often trains and works with the field crew in utilizing the equipment to complete projects in a timely manner. Mr. Romo is responsible for providing cost estimates to potential clients and performs calculations for construction staking on all projects in the survey department. He is credited with the direct procurement of major contracts with clients such as ExxonMobil, Lyondell, Houston Methodist Hospital, Brown and Caldwell, and Parsons Environment & Infrastructure, and JSW Steel.
James P. Hutchison, P.E. - Past President
After receiving a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, Mr. Hutchison spent five years with a large petrochemical company.
In 1966, he joined Busch, Hutchison & Associates, Inc., becoming a partner and vice president in 1971. He became president in 1986 and has spent many years developing the company clientele and reputation. In his present position, Mr. Hutchison serves as an engineering consultant for municipal, industrial, and commercial projects.
